Abid Zubeiri, president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, said he would approach the court if the elections were delayed.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Nayyar Bukhari said that according to the constitution, elections should be held in 90 days.
Nayyar Bukhari said that the delimitation should be done on the basis of the current census, but the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has reservations over the census, this matter will come up in the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
President Supreme Court Bar Abid Zubeiri:
Abid Zubeiri, president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, said that Nayyar Bukhari’s statement is beyond comprehension, “the PPP says that elections should be held on new constituencies, and the constitution needs to be amended for delimitation.”
Abid Zubeiri said that the Supreme Court’s order on elections in Punjab was not implemented. He said that the government did not follow the order to hold elections in 90 days, and has already violated the constitution by not holding elections in time.”
Head of Pildat Ahmed Bilal Mehboob:
Ahmed Bilal Mahboob said that the constitution must be amended for delimitation. He said that the constitution is amended with a two-thirds majority, but two-thirds of the members are not present in the assembly.
Ahmed Bilal Mehboob said that if the delimitation could not be done, there would be a constitutional crisis, there would be a dispute over the issue of delimitation, and due to this dispute, and the elections are likely to be postponed.
He said that the issue of delimitation will have to be resolved by the Supreme Court, it has to be decided in the courts, earlier there was a problem of elections in two assemblies, now general elections are to be held and there can be a problem in it too.
MQM leader Farooq Sattar:
MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar said that elections will be held on new census, new constituencies, if the assembly is dissolved first, elections will be held in 90 days.
Farooq Sattar said that the people of Karachi are demanding that we should be counted correctly, and according to the new census, there should be constituencies, but it will take four months to make new constituencies, political parties can solve the problem through consultation.
